Zermatt Resort

The ever popular Zermatt offers a huge ski area at high-altitude, and stunning views of the famous Matterhorn. The skiing is accessible from the village centre via cable car, funicular and the famous Gornergrat mountain train, which takes you on a spectacular ride up to 3089m and rewards you with fantastic views of the glacier. There are options of skiing over to Cervinia for the day on the whole area lift pass, or take on the challenge of the Matterhorn ski safari using on each lift once. Electric carts and horse-drawn carriages replace cars and the small village style streets offer a range of bars, restaurants and boutique style shops.

Zermatt Mountain Guides

There is some fantastic off-piste in Zermatt with the bowls of Triftji offering incredible easy access powder skiing for those who prefer not to hike further afield. Zermatt is also the end of the famous Haute Route, a ski tour which begins in Chamonix and crosses 80km of terrain over several days. We advise you hire a private mountain guide in Zermatt if you are not familiar with the off piste as avalanche danger and navigation errors can lead to accidents very quickly if not considered. When split between a group, hiring a guide is inexpensive and takes the important decision making out of your hands as safety and security id their number one priority. If there are no guides listed above, we recommend you contact the local guide bureau (Alpin Center Zermatt) who will be able to assist you further to find the right guide for your trip.
